Road Signs To Improve In UK

Tuesday, September 23rd, 2008

The UK government has announced that review of road signs will be given high priority and be given the biggest consultation in 40 years. This measure is adopted as a part to reduce the number of accidents. Motorists who are more interested in avoiding a claim on their car insurance may be more interested in getting involved in the review of the road signs across the UK.

On talking about this measure, Rosie Winterton, Transport Minister, said that the road conditions has witnessed dramatic changes in the past years and the road signs need to keep pace with the changes. Improving road signs will provide the best possible information to all motorists. She also added that the government showed more interested in improving the road conditions but failed to incorporate necessary road signs thinking that this could clutter the streets. Incorporating new road signs is indeed a positive measure taken by the Government in improving the driving conditions.

She stated that updating traffic signs will play a part in reducing congestion and CO2 emissions. The department of Transport also announced that practical driving tests on cutting emissions and saving fuels will also be given to the new motorists.
