The facility of
Driving other Vans, which is gradually loosing its significance, allows the provision of third party claims, but the policyholder needs to fulfil two main conditions:
- First and foremost, the van must have insurance policy purchased by some another party and not by the policyholder.
- Secondly, the policyholder must obtain the permission of owner of the van to drive it.
- Apart from these two conditions, the vehicle must not be hired or owned by the policyholder to entertain him or her with Driving other Vans facility.
This facility was designed to meet emergency situations on road. But, with increasing misuse of this facility, a number of
Van Insurance providers have started eliminating this facility from their list of facilities. There have been cases, where policyholder misused this facility by driving more profit-generating vehicles in place of actual vehicle insured by them.
