Halifax is one of the car insurance companies in UK who provide cover, service and low premiums to its policyholders. Thereby they have gained popularity among car insurers.

There are three types of covers available namely comprehensive, third party theft and fire and third party only.

Comprehensive Car Insurance provides courtesy car while policyholders car is being repaired at approved repairers, courtesy car is also provided at times of accident. Emergency Help line is available all 24 hours.

Third party theft and fire helps in cases where the car is stolen or damaged by fire. Courtesy car is provided.

Third party only applies when you cause damage to other people life or property due to an accident in the car. The Halifax Insurance company pays for the damages, medical expenses of the injured party. Legal expenses incurred in the process are also covered.

Halifax website is easy and simple to use. Any policyholder can apply online by completing the secure online form; there is a discount of 10% for online applications.

Who can apply?
Anyone between the ages of 21 to 78 can apply for comprehensive cover, anyone from 30 to 78 years of age for third party theft and fire and third party only cover. Residents of Channel Islands and Northern Ireland cannot apply for Halifax Car Insurance.

Special Insurance for Women
Sheilas Wheel is a car insurance product designed specifically for women. This is because women are safe drivers and number of accidents involving women drivers is comparatively less when compared to men of the same age. This Women Car Insurance provides handbag cover; Non-patronizing garages, free counseling and 24 hour help line to the women drivers.

Payments
Payments can be made by credit or debit card or by direct debit. Direct Debit can be used to pay in installments.

No Claims Discount
No claims can be transferred from the last car insurance company to Halifax by submission of no claims discounts in original. Any policyholder can avail up to 65% no claims discount.

Claims
The claims process followed by Halifax is detailed in their claims FAQ page, which is given separately and gives a clear idea to the insurer about the claims process.

There is a separate claims telephone line, which helps the insurer to inform about the accident, damage or theft of car. Settlement of claims will generally be done within 5 working days.

Complaints
There are separate telephone lines for customer services as well as claims. Complaints can be resolved on receipt. If it is not possible to resolve the complaints then a written acknowledgement is sent to the policyholder within 4 working days with details of person handling the complaint and procedure of the complaint.
