Government Not Keen To Finance Old Car Scheme

With very little support and action from the government, that the UK Car Companies have decided to go ahead with their own scrappage schemes of older cars. The auto industry has been requesting the government to support them with schemes that will help them scrap polluting older vehicles and boost new car sales. However, the government is not ready to fund any such scheme before figuring out the cost and whether such schemes will actually prompt customers to buy new cars.
The industry, however, has a different opinion. Experts of the industry claim that manufacturers, dealers and suppliers are facing huge losses due to these old, polluting cars. Desperation of the car companies has led them to come up with a scheme of their own with Citroen leading the way.
The French car importer is offering a £2,000 off on a new model who agrees to have their trade-in vehicle scraped if registered before 2000. Other discounts like 5,500 off on the price of a Xsara Picasso cutting it practically to half the price. Such a scheme will prompt immediate replacement of older cars with safer and better equipped new cars. The Citroen Trade-In Incentive Scheme allows motorists better reason to do away with older cars and save on new ones. The scheme applies to C4 coupe, Picasso or Grand Picasso, hatchback, C5 saloon and estate C8 MPV, C6 saloon, and the C-Crosser 4×4. To avail the schemes, you must order the cars by the end of this month and get it registered before July.
