Mostly car insurers offer following cover types:-
Third party only (TPO):- While driving other cars you need to have a third party only insurance. The third part only car insurance covers your liability to others. So, if you want to drive other cars under special conditions then it is mandatory to have a valid third party car insurance policy.
Third party fire and theft (TPFT):- For a person to drive a vehicle in the UK it is a legal obligation to have third party insurance. This is to make sure that any third parties and their property are covered in case of an unpleasant incident. But it doesn’t cover you against damages to your vehicle. Third party fire and theft (TPFT) covers you in the event of your vehicle being stolen or damaged (even destroyed) by fire.
Comprehensive: - Comprehensive car insurance provides cover for everything in addition to what a third party fire and theft does. You will generally be covered for losses or damages to your car, accessories, accidental damages and also medical costs.
