MOT Reminders Can Cost Your Comprehensive Car Insurance
Mailing MOT reminders can stop motorists from driving potentially unsafe cars and even reducing chances on Car Insurance claims. The Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM) says that it is very easy for people to forget when their certificate is due for renewal and drive a technically illegal car.
Recent rise in MOT charges should be utilized for sending reminder letters. IAM director of policy and research, Neil Greg said that motorists have received test fee increase in the last five years, and despite each fee being above inflation they have not noticed improvement in the service.
An earlier research revealed that 71 per cent of the drivers would pledge support to their scheme while 32 per cent admitted that on some rare occasions they did take out their vehicle after the expiry of the MOT certificate. People who drive without proper documentation may even witness their comprehensive or third party insurance cover being scarped. |
