Potholes Responsible for Car Insurance Claims

In the recent days, car insurance claims have risen because of an increase in potholes in the UK roads. According to AA, more and more people are filing for insurance claims because of accidents due to bad roads. Claims are usually more during winter months, says Simon Douglas, director of AA Insurance, but this time February has seen the number of claims treble. Compared to 700 claims made in last February, this year there were about 2000 claims for pothole damage.
The number of potholes increased to about 1.5m mainly due to cold weather conditions. Without any maintenance and repair work, a pothole grows to a gaping hole causing damage to wheels and bodywork. The potholes get filled up with water at times, thereby becoming invisible for drivers.
