Heavy Snow Increases Rate of Motor Insurance Claims

Following very heavy snowfall last week, car insurance claims have increased drastically all across the UK. Heavy and unusual snowfall this year has wreaked havoc in the UK and the Met Office has warned of things getting worse in the coming weeks. Since most British motorists are not experienced enough to drive in icy conditions, AA Car Insurance reports that it expects to receive claims of 3,000 individuals up from the usual average of 1,700.
The AA stated that last Monday was their busiest day so far having received the maximum number of claims from drivers who have hit walls, trees, houses and even lamp posts due to snow. Director of AA, Simon Douglas advises motorists to be extra cautious when they are driving in such extreme conditions. It would be best if they can avoid movement from one place to another as claims are rising with the blizzards.
Ensure car insurance also registered an increase in claims of almost 100 per cent till Monday morning. As contrary to the belief, older drivers are not so hard hit by this weather as are younger drivers.
