Some disturbing statistics revealed by AA Insurance shows that personal injury claims for whiplash worth £66 are being added to almost all car policies that are being bought in the United Kingdom. A report published by the Association of British Insurers reveal that around 1,200 individuals are being involved in an accident on the road almost everyday and claims for a whiplash injury are increasing.
The figures of this has increased manifold over the last few years. Last year, the figure was about 430,000 thereby mounting tremendous pressure on car insurance companies. As much as two billion pounds were spent by companies as compensation last year.
Future increase in premiums would depend upon whiplash injury, states Simon Douglas, Director of AA insurance. According to Douglas, the cost of whiplash claims was equal to 14% of the average Shoparound insurance premium, which increased by as much as 9% for a comprehensive insurance policy.
